A healthy smile can be an important part of overall health and well-being, and at Sherry Dental and Wellness, dentistry goes far beyond simply caring for teeth.

Serving Schuylkill County from its Shenandoah location since 2018, Sherry Dental and Wellness takes a comprehensive approach to dental care, helping patients better understand how the health and function of the mouth can connect with other aspects of the body. From general dentistry and preventive care to digital technology, oral microbiome testing, and facial rejuvenation services, the practice combines modern treatment with an emphasis on education, compassion, and whole-person wellness.

That philosophy is deeply personal. Growing up with a father who was a dentist, the practice’s founder saw firsthand the impact a dentist could have not only by transforming a smile, but by helping patients feel more comfortable and confident in receiving care. That experience, combined with continued education beyond dental school, helped shape a practice centered on helping every patient leave better than when they arrived.

Today, Sherry Dental and Wellness continues to expand what patients can expect from a visit to the dentist while remaining rooted in the Schuylkill County community.

To learn more about the philosophy, growth, and people behind Sherry Dental and Wellness, we asked their team a series of questions about the practice, its approach to care, and its role in the Schuylkill County community.

Q: What inspired you to start your business?

A: Growing up with a father who was a dentist, I admired the positive impact he had on people, not just with his capacity to transform their smile, but more importantly, his ability to create peace in the heads of patients who had dental anxiety.

Being able to have a significant impact on people‘s health and well-being has always been a passion of mine, in and out of the office. When I started dental school in 2014, not many people were talking about how integrated the mouth is with the rest of the body. As I continued to do much more training outside of school, I learned being a dentist gave me the opportunity to contribute much more to my patient’s overall health then I realized.

Q: What makes your business unique or sets it apart from others in your industry?

A: At Sherry Dental and Wellness, you will learn about much more than just your teeth. You will not only learn about the health of your mouth, but about how it functions as a system with your muscles, jaw bones and jaw joints. This system affects your breathing, posture, and nutrition. You will learn how the environment of your mouth can influence your risk for not only cavities and bad breath, but also gum disease, Alzheimer’s/dementia, cardiovascular disease, and even some cancers.

Q: What are some of the core values or principles that guide your business?

A: My team is dedicated to providing anyone who walks through our door with compassion, knowledge, and high-quality care. We truly want you to leave our office better than when you arrived. We also partner with numerous like-minded specialists for anything that is out of our capacity to assist patients with.

Q: What are your goals or plans for the future of your business?

A: Over the next 1 to 3 years, we plan to incorporate more integrative medicine services for our patients in order to moderately impact their overall health and longevity. We will also be increasing our capacity to provide full mouth rehabilitation for patients who are ready to regain function, and achieve a smile they always wanted.

Q: Breifly describe your business, including your products or services and the community you serve.

A: Currently we offer most of the common general dentistry procedures like fillings, crowns, bridges, implant crowns, dentures and partials. Our hygiene department provides several different levels of oral cleaning visits. We use digital impression scanning, digital x-rays, and digital case planning. We offer oral microbiome testing from saliva samples, as well as high technology facial rejuvenation services for patients looking to reverse the signs of aging.

Q: How long have you been operating?

A: We have been providing care out of our Shenandoah location since the end of 2018.

Q: How does your business support or engage with the local community?

A: We are happy to provide Schuylkill County with comprehensive care that goes well beyond the teeth. We are actively involved in the community supporting youth sports teams, fundraisers, and other local businesses. Feel free to stop by to take a tour of the office to see how dentistry has changed for the better. You also might be surprised to discover a symptom you are having is related to your mouth!
