The Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) launched StartUp NEPA, an Angel Investment Fund, designed to support start-up and early-stage businesses within the region.

The Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) is proud to announce the award recipients for the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” Berks Schuylkill student video contest awards. The awards ceremony was held, thanks to generous contributions from community sponsorships, in partnership with Manufacturers Resource Center and teaming partners Berks Business-Education Coalition, Kutztown Small Business Development Center, eMediaWorks, and Sahl Communications, Inc. The WSCM program was created by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in 2013.

The Board of Directors of Primary Health Network (PHN) is pleased to announce that George C. Garrow, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for the Network, has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The Compassus hospice program serving Berks, Schuylkill and Lebanon Counties in Pennsylvania, and surrounding communities has been awarded Community Health Accreditation Partner accreditation under the Hospice Standards of Excellence. CHAP is a nationally approved accrediting organization that assesses the quality of health care providers.

The Schuylkill Technology Center North Campus hosted a graduation Ceremony for the students completing the Practical Nursing Program, an 18 month, part-time program for adult students. During the ceremony, 18 students, who are now eligible to sit for the NCLEX Examination which enables them to become licensed practical nurses, were awarded degrees and awards.

The community came to celebrate the dedication of the new Schuylkill Haven Main St clock on April 23rd. The clock is located near the post office and the Reading & Northern Railroad Station, in dedication to the Schuylkill Haven Community. Businesses and residents have come together to contribute to the clock as a replacement to the Zwerling landmark. The former clock which graced this space for almost 30 years was not repairable.

Six educators from Schuylkill County will work with a team of science education leaders from across the commonwealth to build a common strategy for improving local systems of science teaching and learning. The program will provide new opportunities for participants to reflect on practices, share their best ideas, and collectively solve problems between organizations and across regions. Regional demonstration sites will be used to generate tools, resources, and processes that can be shared with school leaders and educators across the state to spotlight innovations that are improving science teaching and learning.

Wegmans, Frackville -
"People ask why I have been at Wegmans for 28 years…I will tell you why…today there was a horrific pile up accident on 81 by the WEGMANS distribution center in Pottsville…we took in around 50 crash survivors, from all different backgrounds.

Alvernia finalizes the purchase of the 30,000 sq. ft. building located at 500 Progress Avenue in downtown Pottsville. The latest addition to the Alvernia campus footprint will undergo a $6 million renovation project to become the centerpiece of Pottsville CollegeTowne, the innovative strategy of expanding the campus into the downtown area to continue its Franciscan mission of education, service and community engagement.

STC Carpentry Students Build Desk
Mar Lin & Frackville (April 1, 2022)- Students enrolled at the Schuylkill Technology Center North Campus designed and built a custom desk for Kash Filiac, a second-grade student enrolled at Saint Clair Area School District that provides more space for him to do his work and accommodate his wheelchair. Through a cooperative effort between the Outdoor Power Technology and Carpentry students as well as our talented instructors, STC answered the call with a custom desk for Kash.

"My name is Erin Boylan and I am from Scranton, Pennsylvania. On the evening of Wednesday, March 23, 2022 my family and I were traveling from Scranton to Hershey Medical Center. We decided to stop in Frackville for a bite to eat at The Black Diamond Bar and Restaurant on South Lehigh Avenue. After finishing an amazing meal, with amazing service we left to be on our way, and discovered that we had a completely flat tire. As you can imagine we were very upset, and anxious. It was now 7pm, dark, cold and raining.
