The Adult Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) Practical Nursing Program has achieved a top ranking in the state of Pennsylvania by PracticalNursing.org, a leading resource for LPN students. Schuylkill Technology Center’s Adult Practical Nursing Program is ranked 9th out of the 52 schools analyzed.
PracticalNursing.org considers various factors when ranking Practical Nursing Programs; including past and present, first-time NCLEX-PN pass rates as well as how effectively a program supports students in their journey toward licensure and beyond. In the 2022 – 2023 reporting year for NCLEX first time test takers, Schuylkill Technology Centers achieved a 100% pass rate for a second year in a row.
The Schuylkill Technology Centers Practical Nursing program was started by Martha Malinchok. The first class was enrolled January 9th, 1967. To date, there have been close to 3,000 students who have graduated from the Practical Nursing program. The Practical Nursing program is comprised of three terms in which the students are taught various subjects such as Nursing Fundamentals, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, Mental Health Nursing, Maternity, and Pediatrics. Along with class time, students spend time performing clinical rotations in health care facilities throughout Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties. The Practical Nursing graduates from the Schuylkill Technology Centers have played a significant role in meeting the health care demands within these counties.
“The STC Adult Practical Nursing Program presently operates two part-time day programs but hopes to add a part-time evenness program in the near future,” said Director, Shannon Brennan.
