Comcast to receive letter of support from Schuylkill County Broadband Task Force
Pottsville, PA (July 28, 2023) - As a collaborative leadership effort, the Schuylkill County Broadband Task Force (BTF) was assembled as a sub-committee of the Schuylkill Chamber Infrastructure Committee with leaders from the Schuylkill Chamber, Schuylkill County Government, Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, network of County libraries, and community.
The BTF has been strongly involved in the recent vetting of area ISPs (internet service providers) that plan to apply to the Capital Projects Fund Broadband Infrastructure Program, specifically the COVID-19 ARPA Broadband Infrastructure Program.
Eligible projects for the grant include either line extension and development or large-scale regional infrastructure. As part of the grant application, it is strongly encouraged to seek out letters of support from area organizations. In alignment with the expectation of collaboration, the BTF developed a submission process for ISPs that are interested in applying for projects in Schuylkill County to address unserved and underserved communities.
On July 5, 2023, the BTF completed its vetting process, after a thorough review of each proposal utilizing the Infrastructure Grant Guidelines as indicators. The BTF is proud to announce that Comcast will receive a Letter of Support from the Schuylkill County Broadband Task Force for its grant submittal for the COVID-19 ARPA Broadband Infrastructure Program.
The BTF recommends that residents become educated on broadband opportunities in PA by visiting the PA Broadband Authority website at dced.pa.gov or contact via phone at 717-720-1396. Also, it is recommended that residents with limited or no connectivity visit GetInternet.gov to learn about the many resources available to received affordable Internet services. Residents can also learn about affordability options with the Affordable Connectivity Program by calling 877-384-2575.
