Gordon, PA- July 21, 2022 – Student participating in the Academic Achievement Enhancement (ACE) Program at Schuylkill Technology Center installed Little Library Boxes in Gordon, Girardville and Lavelle. The Library Boxes were built by students enrolled in the Carpentry Program at the STC North Campus at the request of Karen Noon and Kathy Glessner from the Ashland Free Public Library to expand access to books to the residents of these outlying communities.
“Community Residents may borrow and return books to the boxes, which will be replenished by volunteers from the Ashland Free Public Library” said, Gary Glessner Vice President of the Board of Directors. The picture below depicts the box installed in front of Lloyd “Ned” Hampton’s Office in Gordon. A second box will be placed in front of the Girardville Borough Hall and a third box will be placed at the entrance to the Lavelle Park.
