STC Students Succeed at PA State SkillsUSA Competition

Hershey, PA- April 8, 2022. Members and advisors of the SkillsUSA student organization from Schuylkill Technology Center North and South campuses attended the 54th Annual SkillsUSA Pennsylvania State Leadership and Skill Conference April 6—April 8, 2022. The conference was held at the Hershey Lodge and students competed against their peers from career and technical centers from throughout the state of Pennsylvania. The students represented Schuylkill County, by demonstrating commitment to excellence, integrity in their work, and a professional demeanor at all times. Overall, twenty-five STC students competed in the state contests, with fourteen earning gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Two Schuylkill Technology Center Students will be representing Pennsylvania at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Atlanta, Georgia June 20-25, 2022. Kelsey Christianson, a 12 grade student from the Williams Valley School District enrolled in the Emerging Health Program who earned a gold medal and Maddisyn Behney, a 12th grade Tri-Valley enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program who earned a silver medal will represent Pennsylvania in their respective categories of competition.

The costs to attend Regional, State and National Competitions are funded through fundraising and the generous donations of the following industry partners: Black Diamond Bar & Restaurant, which donated $ 947.00; Schuylkill Community Foundation, which contributed $ 217.56 form an annual distribution from charitable endowments, Bartush Signs, Universal Forest Products, Carpenter's Union #431, IBEW Local #743 and Hydro, which contributed at a Platinum Level sponsorship and Hexcel at a Silver Level Sponsorship.
