Schuylkill County.

lush, bountiful beauty of Schuylkill County's majestic mountains and
green pastures makes it easy to forget that the county is situated in
one of the most convenient locations in the state.
With backdoor access to Interstates 78, 80 and 81, and
a short commute to Interstates 76 and 84, Schuylkill County makes it
easy to reach a multitude of destinations. In addition, State Routes
61, 209 and 309 serve all sections of the county and are part of the
national Highway System road network.

Railroads
Schuylkill County is served by the Reading
and Northern Railroad, headquartered in Port Clinton. This 315 mile
regional railroad serves eight counties in the state and handles over
23,000 carloads of freight a year.
The Reading and Northern owns a fleet of nearly 800 freight
cars and 22 modern locomotives. The railroad provides daily service
on 133 miles of track in Schuylkill County and interchanges to both
Norfolk Southern Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railroad to connect Schuylkill
County to the entire international transportation market. Rail service
by Reading & Northern is available to several industrial development
sites in Schuylkill County.
Airports-Air Services
The Schuylkill County Airport, located outside of Minersville, has a
4,600-foot paved runway capable of handling medium transport, passenger
and small jet aircraft. The airport is operated by the Schuylkill County
Airport Authority.
Air freight and commercial air services are available
within 60 minutes in Allentown, Harrisburg, Avoca and Reading. The Philadelphia
International Airport is a 2.5 hour drive over our Interstate Highways
and Turnpike System.
Package Delivery
In addition to post offices within the communities, Schuylkill County
is served by all of the major package handlers. United
Parcel Service has distribution terminals near Pottsville and Tamaqua.

Capitol Trailways and Susquehanna Trailways offer frequent daily service
to regional points from within Schuylkill County, including Philadelphia,
New York City and Washington, DC. The Trailways National System covers
all of the United States.
