options in Schuylkill County are available in many areas. Strip malls
and specialty shops are located throughout the downtown districts of
Ashland, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Minersville, Orwigsburg, Pottsville,
Saint Clair, Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah and Tamaqua. Many of the local
shopping districts represent historic downtowns that are being revitalized
to improve retail options in the local communities.
With the wealth of history that has occurred right here
in Schuylkill County, consumers are finding that opportunities abound
in the antiques shopping market. Stroll through any of our communities
and find that perfect item for your home or office with a story all
its own. Area antique stores include Black Diamond Antiques and Blum's
Auction Service in Frackville; Caledonia Antiques, Shenandoah; Curious
Goods and Marguerite's Antiques and Collectibles, Pottsville.
The county is home to three major malls - Cressona Mall,
Cressona; Fairlane
Village Mall, Pottsville; and Schuylkill
Mall, Frackville. All three feature national and regional department
stores as anchors, along with restaurants and entertainment areas such
as movie theaters and game rooms. For convenient shopping, a Wal-Mart
Supercenter is located along Route 61 north of Saint Clair.
The
county's large agricultural base spawned a number of roadside farm markets
that many Schuylkill Countians like to visit. Fresh produce is common
at these stands during the county's abundant growing season. Visit the
Hometown Farmers Market in Hometown every Wednesday, or Renninger's
Market in Orwigsburg on Saturdays and Sundays to purchase fresh fruits
and vegetables, as well as many other items, year-round.
The largest shopping outlets in the Northeast and
quaint roadside markets featuring specialty arts and crafts from some
of America's greatest artisans are within a short driving distance of
Schuylkill County for even more shopping options.
