Schuylkill County Court House overlooks downtown Pottsville, the county
seat. Built in 1889, the impressive landmark is quick to catch the eye
of any visitor to the city.
Being a large rural county, Schuylkill County has a multiplicity
of government units that starts with the Schuylkill County Commissioners
and includes the City of Pottsville, 30 boroughs and 36 townships.

in the nation and an enhanced E-911 emergency system that is housed
in a state-of-the-art facility in Pottsville. All personnel within the
E-911 center are certified. This consolidated dispatch system answers
calls for 122 volunteer fire companies, 43 police departments and 29
advanced life support and basic life support ambulance services.

All emergency management personnel are certified.
Police services in Schuylkill County are provided by Pennsylvania
Certified Law Enforcement Officers supported by the Pennsylvania State
